I don’t know who or what to believe anymore
so I’ll just put My trust in youtube folklore
the experts are crooks
who want Me to read books
and wear a mask
what an unpatriotic task
you can’t tell Me what to do
because I’ve got google and it knows more than you
I’ll keep My gun on My hip
and call you a dip shit
for believing in science
screw your feminist liberal defiance
you can’t tell Me what to do
because I’m a man and will always know more than you
everything will go back to the way it was before
just go ahead and reopen the economy’s door
because your life doesn’t matter as much
as Me being able to get a decent haircut and such
you can’t tell Me what to do
because I will never let you forget that I know more than you

Powerful and spot on! I’ve been so, so angry of late and talk of lifting restrictions makes me feel like giving up. It doesn’t mean the virus has gone, it simply means human life is falling even further behind the government’s top financial priority. Ignorance is a dangerous thing. Sounds like government fury in the US is similar to that here in the UK at the moment. Excellent poem, love it! x

Ugh. It’s similar, and it’s not—depending on who and where you are. In Louisiana, the stay at home order expires tomorrow, while in Illinois (where I’m from originally), the order doesn’t expire until the end of May. Wisconsin’s Supreme Court deemed their stay at home order unconstitutional last night, and people were drinking in bars immediately after. It’s all so frustrating and lots of it comes down to party lines as well. I have to go back to work next week for at least a day to close out the school year and don’t feel safe doing so. Hello, immunosuppressed right here! Ugh. Ignorance is a dangerous thing, and I agree with everything else you have to say too. Stay safe over there across the pond!

I’m so angry just reading this..! I understand the human rights thing but doesn’t Wisconsin realise it’s not about them as individuals but as a collective to keep everyone safe? Grrrrr. You shouldn’t be forced back to work either, no matter how seemingly important it is to close out the school year. Do you have a mask? I hope they have some safety measures in place, but by the sounds of this it wouldn’t surprise me if they don’t. I hope it can just be a one-day thing with you going back. Maybe wear a plastic bucket over your head, or tie four broom handle poles around your waist facing outwards so nobody can get too close! 😂 In all seriousness though, please do whatever it takes to be as safe as possible, regardless of what the school thinks.xx

Just now seeing this! I have a 😷, and I wore it! And everybody was supposed to but they didn’t. Imagine that. 😞I’ll be safe, and you stay safe too!

PS. There’s talk now of our schools going back June 1st. Obviously the unions aren’t happy about this and I imagine there will likely be protests as there aren’t adequate safety measures in place. The UK government are already pushing for work to resume. We’re not testing enough people, we haven’t introduced antibody testing yet, I feel like I’m the only one wearing a mask when in the supermarket as so many now are acting as though it’s a normal day… governments lifting restrictions does not mean the virus has gone, it simply means human life is slipping further behind the government’s top financial priority. Sad and frustrating… xx
